As the countdown begins for the country’s inaugural F1 race, security forces have started taking positions to ensure smooth functioning of the event. The three-day motor race, which is being held at the Buddh International Circuit here from October 28-30, is considered the biggest sports event after CWG.
A total of five battalions of the Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC) reached the venue on Monday. By Wednesday, all forces, including the Rapid Action Force, are expected to reach the city. Besides, motor sports governing body FIA will also deploy its own marshals around the race track.
Jaypee Sports International (JPSI), the organisers of the mega event, has sought assistance from UP and Delhi police as foreign visitors are expected to stay in various hotels around the vicinity.
More than 2,000 security personnel have been assigned for the event. "Multi-layer security arrangements have been planned. In view of farmers' protests, PAC men will be deployed in nearby villages. Traffic plans have been drawn and drills would be conducted," said Avdesh Vijeta, SP.
