Public information campaigns will no longer be dull affairs. Why don't we see ourselves leaping with joy at this news? It will be showcasing the government's many plans to connect with the rural masses. We applaud this idea. Film shows, magic shows, are all to be part of this blitz which the government is planning to unleash.

The government plans to connect with the public and inform it of its many public welfare schemes. We wonder how this could be done. We understand that this whole exercise will be done through village melas. An excellent idea. But dare we ask where all the money is going to come for all this? Could this money have not gone towards better purposes like actually giving it to those who need the cash? But that would be so surly. We must think of this whole thing as akin to our lads and ladies going to the Cannes Film Festival. Will they promote Indian cinema? Not at all, but like our government schemes and their promotion, they will make for a few headlines. In the film festival, our stars can strut their stuff for the brands that they are endorsing. Likewise, our melas will also showcase the schemes which will bring a bit of good to all of us. Rural people, whom we pre-suppose are very fond of melas, will apparently soak in the government's schemes. What a lovely turn of events.
