Fake Indian currency seized in Nepal

Police on duty at the airport confiscated the fake currency notes from two suitcases brought from Bangkok.

Nepal police has seized fake Indian currency with face value of Rs 5.9 million from the Tribhuvan International Airport.

Police on duty at the airport confiscated the fake currency notes from two suitcases that were brought from Bangkok through the Cargo of a Thai Airways flight on Tuesday night.

The two suitcases were opened in the presence of customs officers after they were found unattended at the Cargo of the airport.

They contained Rs 3.5 million fake Indian currency notes in Rs 500 denomination and Rs 2.4 million in Rs 1,000 denomination notes, police said.

The cash was concealed under the false bottom of the suitcases. So far, nobody has claimed the baggage and police has started further investigations into the matter.
