A 42-year-old farmer committed suicide by strangulating himself at his residence in Nashik, police said.

Balwant Rajaram Pawar, a resident of Bhaur, had taken loan from a co-operative society and could not repay it, following which he took the extreme step yesterday, police said.

The officials of revenue department is conducting a probe, they added.
