In a fit of rage following an altercation with his wife, a man burnt to death their four-month old daughter at Hottin village, about 100 km from Rourkela, police said today.

Police said that the accused Fakir Patra alias Raju used to quarrel with wife Jema Munda quite often. It had led her to move to her parents' home.

Last evening Fakir came to his in-laws house and picked up a quarrel with Jema. Then, in a fit of anger, he took his daughter to an isolated forest area near Khandadhar and set her ablaze after pouring kerosene on her, they added.

Police seized the body this morning and arrested the man.
