Gurgaon police have decided to provide armed security to the father of the Class VIII student who was shot dead by two of his classmates in his school in December 2007.
A gunman of Haryana Police would accompany Ravinder kumar Tyagi for court hearings.
Tyagi, a property consultant, claimed that he was being threatened to withdraw the case filed against the two accused boys.
On December 11, 2007, Abhishek Tyagi (14) was shot dead by two classmates at Euro International School in Sector 45 after school hours.
One of them Avinash (name changed) had managed to smuggle a pistol of his father’s friend from his house. The accused boy allegedly fired four shots at Abhishek Tyagi from a close range.
He then reportedly handed over the pistol (.32 mm Harrison) to his friends Navin (name changed) who also allegedly fired one shot. Abhishek Tyagi had reportedly died on the spot.
Gurgaon Police Commissioner S.S. Deswal said Tyagi had made several representations at various levels requesting for a full time gunman.
“We cannot provide him a full time gunman, as his request does not fulfil the criteria for a full time armed escort. However, we have considered his request on humanitarian ground and have allowed him a gunman to escort him in the court premises,” the police commissioner said.
