Fatwa bars Wahabi muslims from entering Barelvi mosque

The fatwa was issued on Monday in response to a whatApp query of a Barelvi Muslim from Gujrat. Muhammed Ali, a resident of Ahmedabad, Gujrat in his whatsApp query has said, “Followers of Wahabi sect often visit our mosque to propagate the message of their sect.”In his query he has asked the maulana if such people should be stopped from entering the mosques and whether legal action could be taken against them.

In the fatwa issued, the head maulana Mohammed Salim Nooori has said that such people “must be stopped” from entering the Mosques saying, that “such people are extremist and cause trouble wherever they go.”

While talking to Hindustan times about the Fatwa, Mulana Salim Noori said,”The reason behind issuing this fatwa was the hike in reports of conflict between Muslims of different cast in recent times.” He said aim of the fatwa is to reduce such conflicts. “The fatwa will insure that people of two sects go to different mosques thus reducing confrontation and conflicts.”

According to the Mulana the people of both the sects, are of different mindset. “Barelvi muslims are peaceful but the Wahabi are extremist,” he said.
