The party president has asked workers to observe the death anniversary of late Deendayal Upadhyaya on February 11 as "Dedication Day" and contribute a part of their earnings to the party fund on the occasion.

He is also aiming at a major membership drive to take the party's strength to 30 million from the present 22 million. "Each and every activist will give a part of his earnings to the party in all districts on that day," he said.

Two years ago, the RSS system of collection of money from BJP members was started but lost steam midway. Now, Rajnath wants the system to be streamlined.

A bulk of BJP's expenditure is met by contributions from leaders belonging to the saffron-ruled state. Rajnath wants BJP leaders from all over the country to share the burden.

Some BJP leaders say Rajnath probably took the cue from his arch rival, Mayawati and her directives to BSP functionaries to ensure regular contribution to the party fund.
