Traffic jams at the Allahabad Crossing, which falls in the Cantonment area of the city, is a common sight and a flyover there was much in demand.

Talking to newsmen after inspecting the Kanpur Central Railway station, Prakash said a flyover at the Allahabad Crossing had been approved and construction work would start within the due course of time.

He added that a foot overbridge at the Delhi end of the railway station had also been approved for the convenience of passengers.

Replying to a query related to the absence of pantry car in Udyog Nagri Express running between Kanpur and Mumbai, Prakash said, “Though there is a shortage of pantry cars the Udyog Nagri Express will have one.”

While answering a query related to water crisis at the railway station, Prakash said, “Water tanks and pumps have been approved for both Kanpur and Allahabad railway stations.”

Commenting on the famous Satellite Imaging for Railway Navigation (SIMRAN) project of the RDSO, Lucknow, in association with IIT-K, Prakash stated trials were being conducted and it would be too early to comment on it.

About the Unreserved Ticketing System (UTS) at Kanpur Central, Prakash informed that by the end of July, the number of UTS counters would be increased.
