In the years that have gone by, they have approached everyone right from the Secretary Housing, Commissioner Lucknow, down to the lowest staff in the LDA’s nazul department but the file concerning their case remains stuck. “On December 24, 1997 Special Nazul Officer of the LDA initially gave a demand note to the society asking us to deposit Rs 21,77,124 within 90 days with regards to free hold of internal roads and park of the soceity,” said Pravas Mishra, the honorary secretary of the society.

“We deposited the requisite amount within the stipulated period and informed the LDA Vice Chairman,” he added.

“Since then we have deposited a total of Rs 26,80,952 as per the demand raised by the LDA from time to time but the authority has done nothing on its part to complete the process, ponited out Major (retired) Usha Chaturvedi. “Ever since, all 40 members of the society, who had purchased the requisite stamp papers to get their respective free-hold deed done have been keeping their fingers crossed. All our efforts in this connection seem to have falled on deaf years,” lamented Nisha Chaturvedi, another resident of the society.

As a last resort to seek justice, on Wednesday, the residents of this posh colony approached the RTI camp at Bhim Rao Ambedkar Mahasabha on Vidhan Sabha Marg to move an application in this connection with the Lucknow Development Authority .

Will RTI provide what their efforts could not?
