Financial help for slain cops? kin

INSPECTOR GENERAL of police, Varanasi zone, AC Sharma assured all financial help to the bereaved family members of those police personnel and officers of Varanasi who sacrificed their lives this year.

INSPECTOR GENERAL of police, Varanasi zone, AC Sharma assured all financial help to the bereaved family members of those police personnel and officers of Varanasi who sacrificed their lives this year.

He was speaking as the chief guest at a function to commemorate Police Smriti Diwas, at police lines in Varanasi on Saturday. Sharma distributed Rs 2000 and woollen shawls to each widows of four policemen, who lost their lives on duty.

These widows were Rajkumari, widow of late Meva Lal, Tulsi Devi, widow of late Paras Nath Yadav, Meera Devi, widow of late Prem Shankar Dubey and Vidyawati Devi, widow of late Chote Lal.

Earlier, clad in ceremonial dress, armed cops performed parade on police lines ground. AC Sharma paid rich tributes to martyrs and recited the name of jawans, who had sacrificed their lives.

Later after giving guard of honour to the martyrs, IGP Sharma and other senior police officials bowed their heads and observed two minute silence in memory of the martyrs.

It may be mentioned that a total 752 police officers and employees sacrificed their lives on duty in Uttar Pradesh this year.
