The FIR members, who are IIT-K students, said that they postponed the hunger strike honouring the Supreme Court (SC) order asking them to keep away from agitation. Aparna, an FIR member said that the district administration, by putting forth the SC verdict in a twisted manner, gagged the voice of democracy. The FIR members said that the district magistrate forced them to call off their mass hunger strike at Phoolbagh on June 18.

They said that they would file a writ petition at the SC and request it to clear its stand on democratic means of protest.

However, the IITians pledged to continue with their anti-quota stir in future and against tyrant attitude of the district administration. Instead of a mass hunger strike, the students would hold a discussion at Nanarao Park.
