Fire destroys 37 huts and kills a woman

A devastating fire burns a woman to death and destroys 37 huts in Malda

A major fire burnt one woman to death and destroyed all the 37 huts which rendered about 185 people homeless at Harijanpara of Dangi village in Malda district of West Bengal.

Police said, four fire engines fought for several hours to control the flames yesterday. One person suffered serious burn injuries and was hospitalised.

The fire is believed to have originated from a cooking arrangement, police said.

The administration is providing relief to the homeless.
