One person was charred to death when a fire broke out in a shop in Budgam district of central Kashmir on Saturday, police said.

The blaze erupted in the shop of Mohammad Younis Banday at main market Beerwah, 20km from here, in the wee hours, damaging it completely.

A charred body of an unidentified person was found under the debris, police said.

"The body is lying in the Beerwah police station for identification," they said.
