FOLLOWING THE Meerut fire tragedy, a team led by district fire officer Bhaironath inspected banks, gas cylinder godowns and hotels.
The inspection came after the district administration directed Fire Brigade personnel to conduct on-the-spot inspection of all buildings, shopping complexes, banks and petrol pumps to check fire safety measures.
The team provided training to gas godown employees on how to check fire. Earlier, senior superintendent of police Dipesh Juneja directed Fire Brigade officials to ensure strict implementation of fire safety guidelines at public places.
He said owners of buildings and godowns would be punished, if they did not follow guidelines.
Meanwhile, a major fire broke out at Bankatwa Uruwa in Parwar village under Ramkola police station and at Birwat Konhwalia village under the same police station. Around 400 huts and houses were reduced to ashes. A 12-year old girl perished in the fire. The district administration has started rescue operations and assured that the victims of the fire will be provided with shelter under the Indira Awas Yojana.
Similarly, fire broke out at Laxmipur village under Peepiganj police station of the district, reducing five houses to ashes. Half-a- dozen goats and other animals perished in the incident.
