The food festival will present the choicest and the most authentic Indian dishes that have been inspired by the Kamasutra. Master Indian Chef Bhairav Singh has put together a special meal with a blend of special spices and ingredients known for their aphrodisiac properties.

The welcome drink is a juice of the bel fruit and Kache Dhud Ki Gulabi Lassi, both great refreshers. Two starters will follow this— dates marinated overnight in cow’s milk and slightly heated to soften it, after which it will be sprinkled with elaichi powder and served with guavas that have a smoky fragrance.

Chef Singh says, “Dates are energy-givers and elaichi is said to enhance sexual performance. The other appetiser, Shilajit-e-Shami, is mutton kebab with shilajit. Shilajit is said to improve blood circulation and enhance sexual performance.”

Now for the main dishes, which are divided into three categories— veg, non-veg and seafood. Their seven key ingredients are garlic, dry dates, honey, green chillies, almonds, saffron and spices, each one of them being good aphrodisiacs.

Tarkaeshe-e-Jannat uses channa dal as a binding agent and is supposedly beneficial to men. Chef Singh laughs, “Channa is associated with horse power.” Shabnam Ke Moti provides nutrients to the body with its mushroom content.

Fish and shellfish are also famous for their supposed aphrodisiac properties. The chef continues, “Shell fish is good for both the sexes. Daura-e-Tafreeh is made with lobster tail marinated in fresh garlic, almond paste and green chillies, and cooked directly on charcoal.”

The aphrodisiac properties of apricots have always been lauded. For a sweet ending to the meal, there’s Khubani Ka Meetha, a halwa made with apricots, ghee and sugar, which is said to be beneficial to women. Sharabi Paan with a filling of phirni spiked with rum, vodka or Bailey’s Cream.
