The body was found floating about 10 km away from the accident site in the backwaters of the Srisailam dam near Manchala Katta village. The victim has been identified as Srinivas Reddy.

The search was on for the bodies of 63 people, including 17 women and 19 children, who were feared drowned in the tragedy, which occurred when they were going to take part in a local temple fair.

Immediately after the mishap, 16 people were rescued by a mechanised boat. All the victims belonged to seven villages of neighbouring Kurnool district.

The rescue workers including divers from the Indian Navy have intensified their search around the point where the body was found.

Since the water at the accident site is 70 to 120 feet deep, the divers could not make much headway in their efforts on Thursday and Friday.

Hundreds of anxious relatives of the victims were still camping on the banks of the river at Nehrunagar on the Kunrool-Mahabubnagar border.
