Meanwhile, the CNG bus arrived at the UPSRTC’s Gomti Nagar bus depot on Friday from where it will start functioning after its registration with the regional transport office (RTO).

The corporation has planned to replace its entire city-bus fleet of 100 buses with the CNG buses by end of this financial year. All the CNG buses will be manufactured by the corporation in its workshop, in Kanpur. “We expect to get 15-20 more CNG buses in the city by the month end,” said General Manager (Operations), RP Singh. He said that there was a plan to begin the trail run of the CNG bus from Alambagh-to Chinhat from Saturday, but the bus could not get the registration with the RTO delaying the whole strategy. “We will be in a position to ply the bus from Monday.”

Meanwhile, in another development, the UPSRTC management today set up a Task Force that will keep a watch over the operation of city buses in the State Capital.
