Targeting a nearly 30,000-strong Malayali community, a first of its kind Malayalam magazine will be launched in Australia on June 28.

The magazine 'Indian Malyali' would provide to readers news from India in their own language.

Ajitha Chirayil, Editor of the magazine told PTI that the magazine was first of its kind in the country that will cater to over 30,000 Malayalis.

The magazine will be launched at a function 'Hridayaragam Nite' here that has been organised in association with World Malayali Council to raise funds for treatment of Indian children suffering from heart diseases.

"Almost 2,000 copies of the magazine will be rolled out first across the country that will comprise of features, political news and entertainment section and other write ups from the local community," Chirayil said, adding that number copies will be raised to 5,000 later.

She said the magazine, that will be headed by the Chief Editor Thiruvallam Bhasi, will help to strengthen the bond between Keralites in Australia and their homeland.
