Daman & Diu Administrator Satya Gopal told PTI that the administration has already warned the fishermen on their release for the first time to control their greed and avoid going near Pakistan border for bigger catch.

Fishermen from Daman in a bid to catch more fish tend to go too far away and end up in Pakistani territory and are caught by the police there.

The administration of Daman & Diu provides financial help to the families of the fishermen arrested till they are released. The administration had taken the decision not to provide help for those arrested second time after the 2611 incident.

Gopal said presently there are 127 fisherman from Daman and Diu in Pakistan jails caught by Pakistani security agencies while fishing at various times. Their families are granted financial help by the administration. However, 22 of them have been found to be arrested for the second time and thus would not get any assitance now.
