At least five people have been arrested in Orissa's Balasore town for printing and circulating fake Indian currency notes, police said on Monday.

The five, including a woman and her son, were held on Sunday night from a house where they were printing the notes using printing machines and computers, police officer AK Mishra told IANS over telephone.

Police seized fake currency notes of different denominations amounting to Rs 30,000, three printing machines and a computer, he said.
"They were circulating the notes by appointing agents in different areas. It appears they were running the racket for the past five-six months,” the official added.
Mishra said those arrested would be produced in a court in Balasore, about 200 km from Bhubaneswar.
