In a tragic incident, five people, including a child, were charred when their car crashed into a stationary tractor and caught fire on the busy NH-2 (Mathura Road) at Palwal on Tuesday.
The crash caused a blast in the car’s CNG cylinder after which it caught fire.
The deceased have been identified as Ashok Agarwal, 65, his wife Manju, 60, son Amit, 40, daughter-in-law Seema, 36, and grandson Shobit. The family resides in Babarpura, Shahadra, in east Delhi.
The CNG-fitted Hyundai Santro car was on its way to Delhi from Agra when it crashed into the tractor on the Agra-Delhi highway near Mudkhera in Palwal district around 3pm.
The police said it seemed the victims could not open the doors as the central locking system got jammed after the car caught fire.
People from the adjoining villages and commuters on the highway tried to save the trapped passengers but could do nothing as the car went up in flames within minutes.
The police also rushed to the spot but by the time they arrived, all five people in the car were charred beyond recognition. After the car was cut open, the bodies were retrieved and sent to the Palwal government hospital for post-mortem examination.

{{/usCountry}}The brothers of the victim, on receiving information about the accident, rushed to the spot late on Tuesday and identified the deceased. Initially, the police had a tough time trying to identify the victims.
