Fix minimum wages: CITU

THE CENTRE for Indian Trade Unions (CITU) took out a procession from Charbagh to Vidhan bhawan which culminated into a dharna in front of Vidhan Bhawan here on Thursday. The CITU activists raised slogans demanding fixation of minimum wages by the state government for the workers of unorganised sector.

THE CENTRE for Indian Trade Unions (CITU) took out a procession from Charbagh to Vidhan bhawan which culminated into a dharna in front of Vidhan Bhawan here on Thursday. The CITU activists raised slogans demanding fixation of minimum wages by the state government for the workers of unorganised sector.

Speaking on the occasion, CITU state general secretary Kamlapati Tripathi demanded fixation of the lowest wages at Rs 3,500 per month in the unorganised sector. He said the state government had fixed the minimum wages at Rs 2,600 per month under pressure from industrialists and corporate officials.

Hundreds of CITU activists participated in the dharna.
