Flashfloods claim the lives of two women in Karnataka

Two women were washed away today in flashfloods in the Chincholi taluk taking the toll of rain related incidents in Karnataka to ten this week alone.

Two women were washed away today in flashfloods in the Chincholi taluk taking the toll of rain related incidents in Karnataka to ten this week alone. The victims, a 14-year-old girl, who was returning home with her mother in Hodebeeranahally, was swept away while crossing a river. However, the mother luckily managed to swim to safety, Revenue Department officials said.

In yet another incident, a 40-year-old woman was swept away in Malaganahally nala, which is overflowing due to heavy rains in Malamadagi village.

Following the discharge of excess water from Chandrampalli and Upper Mulla Mali dams, at least 12 villages in Chincholi taluk have been marooned. Also, the Sedam-Gulbarga road remained cut-off for vehicular traffic as the Kaginala river has been overflowing.
