On the third day of Techkriti-2007 at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT-K) Kanpur on Saturday, hundreds of students from different engineering institutes participated in various competitions.
About nine teams held flight display of aircrafts they had built using indigenous technology at the air strip of the institute. At the gizmo competition, participants displayed various innovative gadgets to solve many problems.
At the Udghosh ground, about 10 teams displayed telescopes made by them. 'Robot games' started from morning and continued till late night with the teams exhibiting their acumen for creating 'playing robots'. The exhibits played football and volley ball.
Under Nirman competition, students ventured into making models of buildings that were earthquake-resistant and equipped with high tech alarming systems.
On the occasion, Gandhian technologist Prof Yashpal spoke about means of eliminating the rising tide of ethnic tensions and terrorism. He suggested tension-free life within technological and social dimensions.
On the other hand, accomplished string theorist in Physics Prof Rajesh Gopakumar spoke about the scope and importance of the new theory, saying it had been constantly moving ahead in the direction of the Grand Unification theory. His lecture enthralled the students.
