One person was swept away by flood waters in Bihar, where Rivers Kosi, Bagmati, Kamala Balan and the Adhwara group inundated fresh areas in Sheohar, Darbhanga, Madhubani and Sitamarhi districts, official sources said on Saturday.
A person belonging to Pushar village of Sheohar district was swept away by the flood waters of River Bagmati yesterday, District Magistrate Navin Kumar Sinha told PTI.
An alert has been sounded in the district in view of the grim flood situation and relief operations have been intensified, he said.
A Central Water Commission bulletin said Rivers Bagmati and Kosi and the Adhwara group of rivers were rising and had crossed the red mark at different places along their course inundating several villages.
While River Kosi was flowing 70 cm above the danger mark at Basua, Bagmati had crossed the red mark at Benibad by 30 cm. The Adhwara was flowing 70 cm above danger mark at Kamtaul and 36 cm at Ekmighat. River Mahananda was flowing 17 cm above the mark at Tegrahaghat, while Burhi Gandak was flowing 66 cm above the red mark at Sikandrapur, the bulletin said.
Besides Supaul and Saharsa districts, many villages in Sitamarhi, Madhubani, Saran, East and West Champaran districts were also ravaged by the current spell of flood, official sources said here.

{{/usCountry}}A Darbhanga report said the flood waters entered some villages of Kusheshwarsthan block affecting about one lakh people in around 10 panchayats, DM Pradeep Kumar said.
Round-the-clock watch was being maintained on embankments which were facing large scale erosion by the waters of the swollen rivers, the sources added.
