For Jain, it can't be a better Diwali gift than this. In the morning, he went to the airport to invite his colleagues for his sister's wedding only to discover that he was sacked. Late in the night, his sorrow turned into joy. "It was such a relief. All my crew and even my father are here with me. We are planning to celebrate now. My mother called me from Jaipur and she was crying. I am thankful to the media also for highlighting our cause."

Bhardwaj cannot believe she has been reinstated. "I am so happy. I still can't believe it. My entire family is dancing and celebrating right now. I have been flooded with messages and phone calls from my friends and family." Till a few moments ago, she was unsure of what the future had in store for her. But all's well that ends well. "I am so thankful to God. Tomorrow, I am going to the airport and find out about my schedule from the rostering department."

Pink Slipped by Jet on Wednesday, Arora spent most of his time worrying about financing his brother's education and meeting the monthly installments of Rs 15,000 for the new home his parents (his father is an officer at State Bank of India) bought in Faridabad. His worries were shortlived as Naresh Goyal reinstated all the sacked employees late Thursday night. "I thank the media and Mr Goyal for having the courage to cancel the retrenchment," he said.
