Not only the common subscribers but even Finance Minister P Chidambaram is also peeved over the way mobile calls drop and wanted to know from the Group Chairman of the largest cellular operator Bharti Airtel, Sunil Mittal, as to when they would be able to fix the problem.
"When will calls not drop in Lutyens' Delhi?," asked Chidambaram from Mittal at the NDTV Profit Business Award function last evening.
Chidambaram had earlier, like an ordinary subscriber, lodged his complaint about call drops with the Airtel's grievances redressal cell.
Mittal responded to the query of Chidambaram by pointing out, "I am going to be very honest here. I was prepared for this question because this time you bypassed me and you went directly into my system to complain, but I got the message back".
Stating that a detailed reply has already been sent to the Finance Minister, Mittal said, "We are constantly trying to fix our network. It may sound very boring, but spectrum is an issue, especially for cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata and Hydearbad, where intensity is high."
He further said that his company did not have permission to set up towers in certain areas of Lutyens' Delhi like North Block and South Block.
