Reduced visibility as a result of the first foggy day on Sunday morning killed a woman when an unidentified vehicle hit her in Bilaspur, Gurgaon.
Last year, 18 people lost their lives in fog-related accidents on the Gurgaon expressway.
Meanwhile, authorities have put into place certain safety measures to prevent accidents on the Delhi-Gurgaon Expressway, where the fog reduced visibility, putting commuters and pedestrians at risk.
According to the police, the ongoing work of marking lanes and installation of electronic signal boards will also be finished soon.
Also, awareness programmes will be undertaken to educate commuters to drive safely and follow traffic rules.
"The number of fog-related accidents go up every year. To avoid this, we are upgrading our services for commuters. There will be traffic reflectors at a gap of every 25 metres. We are also going to install fog lights on all three toll plazas," said a Delhi-Gurgaon Super Connectivity Limited official.
Fog causes train collision
Reports on the first day of fog, were accompanied by news of accidents. Two goods trains collided in Dadri and vehicles collided at Pari Chowk in Greater Noida on Sunday.
