Consider the landscape around your shop /workplace to increase prosperity. A commercial building should be situated at/slightly above street level in front. It should not be located at a place that slopes backward from the rear of the building. It is also inauspicious to be located on a spot that slopes towards either side.

Plants create a comfortable atmosphere, which attracts Ch’i, and consequently customers.

The front door/entrance is the most important as it is the way for customers and wealth to enter your shop. The entrance, therefore, should be welcoming and well lit to encourage Ch’i energy. Keep the following in mind:

The main entrance should not face a pole, tree, toilet or garbage bin outside

The glass used for the front window should be clean to attract customers

Avoid sewer pipes flowing beneath the store or through the front door

Bathrooms should not be located directly above the front door on the floor above

The colour scheme of the shop is also important. Subtle colours are preferable. Use the element relating to your year of birth to determine the best colour for you.

Earth is good for metal. If your element is metal, you may use some brown/beige.

Metal is good for water. If your element is water, you may use some white/gold.

Water is good for wood. If your element is wood, you may use some blue/black.

Wood is good for fire. If your element is fire, you may use some green.

Each of the eight directions has a special energy that helps sell specific goods:

East — wooden products, electrical and electronics goods.
Southeast — books, travel related products, music cds and videos.
South — fashion accessories, candles, special promotion products or sale counter.
Southwest — fabrics, furnishing, clay products, baby products and food items.
West — jewellery, women related products, perfumes, entertainment products.
Northwest — metal goods, men related products, watches, white goods, furniture.
North — glass products, health or pharma products.
Northeast — stone products, sports goods and toys.

The best position for the cash counter is the west of the centre of your shop, northwest, southwest, or east. Sales staff should be able to see the customers entering or leaving the shop.

The simplest way to enhance Feng Shui in your shop is to use mirrors. The mirror should also reflect your cash box.
