MOST CITY parts faced water crisis on Monday, the second consecutive day despite repairing of Shahpura feeder main pipeline, which is part of the Kolar Supply System. However, Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) carried out water supply in some VIP areas connected to the Kolar pipeline. The water crisis is likely to continue on Tuesday as well.
Most areas experienced acute water problem on Monday for it being the second day of water crisis caused by the sudden closure of the Kolar pipeline.
In a press release on Sunday, though the BMC had claimed that the water supply would be normal after Monday morning, the pumping from Kolar Filtration Plant could be started properly only after 2 pm. In dry pipelines, it takes about 10-12 hours for water to reach Chuna Bhatti from the Kolar Filtration Plant.
The BMC officials said the pumping was closed again on Monday morning at 9 am due to leakage in an air valve in front of Mother Teresa School. Later on, the leakage in the valve was repaired till 2 pm.
The BMC carried out the water supply today morning in B, D, DN, E and EN type bungalows of Char Imali. The F-type quarters in same areas were not given water supply till today evening. The Corporator from Arera Colony, Alok Sanjar, said he had to arrange water through tankers in many areas. He said the BMC should have announced repairing schedule at least 24 hours before the closure of pipeline. Sanjar said it was ridiculous that the BMC made announcement about repairing schedule on Sunday morning when the pipeline was already closed for the repairing work.
