THE BHOPAL Municipal Corporation (BMC) administration will resort to forced evacuation of the dairies from Khanugaon as dairy owners functioning from the banks of Upper Lake have not shown interest in the relocation.
For the past couple of days, the BMC administration has been making announcements in the areas around the Upper Lake urging the dairy owners to shift base to newly developed cattle complex at Malikhedi. However, the dairy owners have not responded to the BMC appeal.
Now, the BMC plans to shift the dairies from June 1. In the first phase, about 100 dairies are to be shifted from the areas around the Upper Lake. The BMC administration has already declared the urban areas of the State capital as ‘Cattle Free Zone’. For the effective control over the stray cattle, the BMC does not allow milk giving animals in the City. The BMC Council had approved a proposal in this regard on May 30, 2002.
There are 765 dairies in different parts of the City. The BMC developed infrastructure at Malikhedi at a cost of Rs 1.25 crore. The dairy owners would be given a plot of 1,500 square feet at Malikhedi for housing 10 cattle.

Remove dangerous hoardings: Gupta
LOCAL MLA Umashankar Gupta told the Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) administration to remove dangerous hoardings from the City. In a letter written to the BMC commissioner, Gupta said that a young shopkeeper had died when a dangerous hoarding came crashing down at 10 No. Bus Stop.
He said the young shopkeeper was the only earning member of the family. Despite this tragic incident, the BMC has not learnt any lesson regarding such dangerous hoardings, which pose a risk to human life. He said there were several news recently about the crashing of hoardings due to storm. He told the corporation administration to launch a drive to remove hoardings from the City.
