Former chief justice passes away

Former chief Justice of Jammu and Kashmir High Court Mufti Bahauddin Farooqi passed away at his residence in Jawahar Nagar on Saturday, following a brief illness.

Former chief Justice of Jammu and Kashmir High Court Mufti Bahauddin Farooqi passed away at his residence in Jawahar Nagar on Saturday, following a brief illness.

He was 90 and is survived by three sons and a daughter. He was laid to rest at his ancestral graveyard in downtown Srinagar, family members of Farooqi said.

He was the 12th chief justice of the Jammu and Kashmir High Court from March 7, 1983, to August 23, 1983.
