Former Congress MLA joins PDP in J&K

In a setback to the ruling Congress in Jammu and Kashmir, former party legislator Balbir Singh joined opposition PDP in the state.

"I have said goodbye to Congress after serving it for decades and joined PDP led by former Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed," Singh told reporters here today.

Singh, who joined PDP in presence of Sayeed at a function at party headquarters here, said that he was impressed by the pro-people policies of the PDP.

Welcoming the former MLA from Billawar (Kathua) in his party, Sayeed said that PDP would act as an effective opposition in the legislative assembly.
