The Commissionerate, on its part, would issue order for her suspension by tomorrow. The suspension, in fact, carries no significance at this stage as the challan has been already filed against Anju following her arrest on February 25.
Police had booked Anju and guard Ramkishan under Sections 330 and 376 (2C) in connection with the death of Leela Bai, a fifty-year-old deranged women who was an inmate of the Home.

Leela Bai had died on September 19, 2005 and at first it was said that she had died of epilepsy. However, post mortem report revealed that she had been raped and beaten before her death. She had been raped within 48 hours of her death and 27 injury marks were found on her body. Subsequently, SDM Nilay Satbhaiya conducted a magisterial inquiry into the matter. His inquiry report submitted on December 28, 2005 cited serious allegations against the Home staffers.

However, the matter of who raped Leela Bai before her death still remains unresolved. Since the women could not leave the premises, it is being assumed that one of the males living in the quarters there might be responsible for the rape. So DNA testing of 20 males residing in the complex, most of whom are employees or their relatives, is being done to find if any one of them was responsible for the rape.

Despite grave allegations, Shah was not suspended but was attached to Women and Child Development Department at collectorate. District Collector Vivek Aggarwal had forwarded the file to the Divisional Commissioner who then sent it to the Women and Child Development Commissionerate for further action.
