Soon-to-be grandfather Amitabh Bachchan is geared up to give the younger actors a run for their money, with his upcoming release Bbuddah Hoga Terra Baap that includes elements that made Big B’s character of the ’70s and ’80s popular.
In the film, “I play the role of Viju, an ex-gangster, who after spending a few years in Paris, is back in India for a mission. He is extravagant, flamboyant and arrogant,” says the 68-year-old actor, adding, “I feel fortunate I’m getting good and challenging roles at this age.”
Playing Viju meant a lot of dance and action. How was the experience? “I had serious doubts about the song, dance and action in this film. But I spent extra hours at the gym and did many more rehearsals. I also continued my yoga,” says Big B, who rode a Harley Davidson for the film. “I’m not very good with motorcycles. But when I was told I would have to ride a Harley, I did it somehow,” he says.
The film, an AB Corp production, will hit theatres on July 1 and will clash with Aamir Khan Production’s Delhi Belly. Is there some competition? “There is no competition between the two films. I wish Aamir all the best for his film. The fact is that Aamir is a bigger star than me. Also, his production house is much bigger than my AB Corp in commercial standing. We want all the films to do well,” he says.

Reportedly Bachchan, who skipped the recently concluded IIFA this year, may return next year. “As of now, nothing is decided. There’s been no communication in this regard,” clears Big B, who in this era of remakes, believes that “an original should be left as original.” But he is quick to add: “People who are doing remakes have the rights of the original films... so they can do it.”
