Four coaches of Surat-bound Bharuch shuttle passenger train were derailed when it was being brought on to the platform in Bharuch this morning, Railway officials said.

Though there were no casualties, the rail traffic was affected for nearly an hour, they said.

The incident took place when the train, which had to depart at 0645 hours, was being brought to platform number 4 from the Railway yard, officials said.

An emergency team rushed to the spot, they said.

The tracks have been cleared and the traffic is running normally on the route, the officials said, adding an inquiry will be carried out to find out what caused the derailment.
