Any other actor would have grabbed half-a-dozen projects after a huge hit like Golmaal Returns. But Tusshar Kapoor hasn’t signed even one film in almost a year but has four releases coming up, starting September.

He’s most thrilled about Rajshri Production’s Love You Mr Kalalaar, his first solo film in a long time.

“I agree that comedy has worked well for me but I started my career with a romantic film, Mujhe Kuchh Kehna Hai, and people seem to have forgotten that,” he sighs. Kapoor hopes that Love You Mr Kalakaar will help me break free of the ‘comic actor’ tag.

He adds that a solo hit is something every actor aspires for as it takes his career to another level. “I want to prove that I can carry a film on my shoulder, that’s important for me,” asserts the actor.

New moves
His last movie was Life Partner that didn’t live up to expectations. He blames its commercial failure on a longish delay due to the multiplex strike and the swine flu scare in Mumbai. His next release will be Run Bhola Run and hopes it is timed better and gets the kind of space it deserves.”

Would his graph have had more peaks had he planned his career better?

“I’ve never planned my career, I went with what scripts came my way. The multiplex strike and the swine flu are exigencies no one can safeguarded himself against,” he argues.

“I’m happy I waited for movies that will take me one step ahead instead of a step back.”
