WAZIRGANJ POLICE, on Saturday, busted a gang of contract killers and worked out a Mohanlalganj murder case. The accused four killed a man on February 20 for Rs 1.4-lakh offered by the victim’s wife.

The youths arrested are first-timers. Mohanlalganj police arrested the woman too for orchestrating her husband’s murder. The woman claimed she planned the murder of her second husband when he developed forcibly physical relations with her daughter.

Station house officer (SHO) Wazirganj Udairaj Singh was collecting information about a gang of youths involved in contract killing. Singh was tipped-off about the gang members being at the Residency. The SHO and his team laid a trap and nabbed the four youths.

The cops frisked the foursome to find two .315-bore and a .12-bore country-made pistols and knife from the possession of the youths. They identified themselves as Manish Kumar, Sunil Pandey alias Gappu and Mohammad Anwar Khan alias Ganju, all of Kuber Bagia Telibagh locality, Cantonment and Sanjay Valmiki of Awadh Mawaiya, Mohanlalganj. In the course of interrogation, the youths confessed having eliminated Ramkaran Yadav of SGPGI Road, Mohanlalganj on February 20. They revealed that Ramkaran’s wife Mamta had offered Rs 1.4 lakh to Sunil Pandey to kill her husband. They had received Rs 90,000 so far and Mamta had assured she would pay the balance soon.

Mamta said she had married Ramkaran after her first husband died about 18 years back. She used to run a business of selling milk along with Ramkaran. Her daughter and a son from her first marriage too stayed with her.

Mamta said she had come to hate Ramkaran since her daughter complained about his beastly act. The teenage girl told her mother that Ramkaran had forcibly established physical relations with her and issued life threats against speaking about it to anyone.

When Mamta checked up with Ramkaran he got into a tiff with her. She said she took the decision to eliminate Ramkaran when his forcible advances towards her daughter continued. Mamta discussed the matter with Sunil Pandey who was a regular customer at her dairy. Sunil accepted the offer and executed the job along with his friends.
