Four IT-BHU students sent to jail for ragging

Four students of IT-BHU have been arrested and expelled from the institute for two years for allegedly ragging a fresher by forcing him to dance like a male stripper outside the university campus.

Four students of IT-BHU have been arrested and expelled from the institute for two years for allegedly ragging a fresher by forcing him to dance like a male stripper outside the university campus.

"The students on Sunday evening forced a fresher to act like a male stripper at a restaurant outside the university campus. They have been arrested and booked under various sections of the Prohibition of ragging act and the IPC," SP (City) Vijay Bhushan said.

The accused also thrashed the victim, a student of B Tech-Chemical Engineering at the insitute, besides snatching his mobile phone and Rs 1100 in cash, he said.

The accused with two freshers among them, have also been expelled from the institute for two years after the university authorities found them guilty of the crime, BHU Vice chancellor D P Singh who chairs the university's anti-ragging committee said.

This is the fourth incident of ragging in the university and the third in IT-BHU in the current session.
