Four killed in road accident in Jammu

Police says that the Tata Mobile van in which the persons were travelling skidded off the road, reports Deepak Khajuria.

At least four persons were killed and 5 injured, when a van in which
they were travelling rolled down in a deep gorge at Marra area in the
mountainous border district of Poonch, 220 km northwest of Jammu.

Police said that the Tata Mobile van in which the persons were
travelling skidded off the road and later rolled down into deep gorge
due to the slippery and mountainous road near a sharp curve.

Inspector General of Police (IGP) Jammu zone, SP Vaid said that four
persons were killed on the spot and five others including two army
persons and three civilians were injured in the accident.

Vaid said, "The reasons behind the accident are yet unknown and our
priority is to shift all the injured to the hospital."

He added that all the injured were immediately shifted to the near by
hospital from where the two army persons have been air lifted to the
army hospital in district Udhampur, while the civilians have been
shifted to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMC&H) Jammu by
road.
