Four killed in station attack in Assam

Four people have been killed and two others injured in a firing and bomb attack by suspected Dima Halam Daogah (Jewel) militants in Assam.

Four people, including two railway employees, were killed and two others injured in a firing and bomb attack by suspected Dima Halam Daogah (Jewel) militants in a remote railway station in South Assam's North Cachar Hills district.

The DHD (J) militants, also known as the dreaded 'Black Widow', allegedly opened fire and simultaneously exploded a crude bomb at the Harangajao railway station killing two railway employees and two civilians last night, official sources said on Tuesday.

The deceased were identified as Kesab Malakar, Masab Palai Bijoy Das and Chakraborty.

Initial reports had claimed that three railway employees were killed.

The station was cordoned off and all trains passing through it were halted at nearby Damsara area, the sources said.

Meanwhile, a massive search operation has been launched to nab the ultras who fled after committing the crime.

The DHD(J) had resorted to a spreee of violent activities this month including, kidnappings and clashes with rival ultra groups.
