"Four labourers, who were working in a penstock tunnel, were killed when debris fell on them on Sunday evening," Kullu Superintendent of Police Jagat Ram told IANS.

He said the labourers were employed by contractor Hari Pillai of Kerala for the construction of 100-MW Malana-II hydro project near Malana village, 55 km from Kullu.

He said all the bodies have been retrieved.

According to the police, two victims belonged to Assam and one each were from Jharkhand and Sikkim.

The state government had allotted the Malana project to Delhi-based Everest Power Private Ltd in May 2002. The project is likely to be commissioned in 2009-10.
