Among them, two are Class six students from Bal Shikshan Mandir, one is from Annasaheb Patil School and the fourth is a Class 10 student from New India School.

Six schools including the Seva Sadan, New India, Symbiosis, Springdale, Bal Shiksha Mandir and Abhinava Vidyalaya have been closed for a week. Dr Pradeep Awate from the state’s influenza control cell said the Pune civic body would take a decision about Annasaheb Patil School soon.

The reports of around 18 students from three Panchgani schools — St Peter’s, Sanjeevani and Anjumana — are awaited. “We will get the reports within 72 hours,” said Satara zilla parishad’s chief health officer Dr Vijaysinh Mohite.

Ten students from Panchgani schools have tested positive for the virus so far. More than 450 swine flu cases have been reported in India so far.

“Even in the US and Mexico, the swine flu deaths have been reported among elders and infants, whose immunity level is low. Symptomatically the swine flu attack in India appear even milder than countries in the American continent,” said Awate.
