The England captain said the visitors would not be carried away by their Test success and focus on getting their basics right.

England captain Andrew Flintoff on Monday said the visitors would not be carried away by their Test success and focus on getting their "basics right" when they take on India in a seven-match limited overs series.

Flintoff said the youngsters in the team, who had proved themselves in the absence of several key players in the Test series, have shown that England were not short of talent.

"We have a young, talented side. We have done well in the Tests and would concentrate on doing the basics right," Flintoff said on the eve of the first ODI at the Ferozeshah Kotla ground.

"It (the absence of senior players) is an opportunity for the youngsters and they did well in Tests. It shows English cricket is strong and alive."

England will need to decide on who would open the innings in the absence of Marcus Trescothick.

"We will discuss that tonight at a team meeting," the captain said.

But four years later, the world's leading all-rounder has only positive memories of playing in the subcontinent.

Flintoff said he was refreshed, thanks to a three-day break after the Test series in which when he crammed in a visit to his home at jet speed to see his wife Rachael and new born son Corey.

"I am feeling obviously fantastic. It was a great few days, three days of quality time with my family. I have not seen my wife for a while, and it was nice to see my second son," the visiting captain said.

Flintoff was excited about playing at various venues as they criss-cross the country to play the seven matches against India.

"Obviously we want to win but we also want to find out for ourselves how good we are in different conditions ... We will be travelling all over India," he said.
