Free medical advice at South African Indian camp

More than 150 people, mostly the aged, received free medical assistance when a South African Indian cultural body.

More than 150 people, mostly the aged, received free medical assistance when a South African Indian cultural body hosted its fourth annual Health Day here.

"The elderly people in particular look forward to this day, mainly because they can't afford the high costs of medical treatment," said Naresh Kuverjee of the mainly Gujarati Southern Suburbs Hindu Cultural Society.

The society undertakes a variety of community activities every year, the latest being a Winter Collection Drive to assist the needy during the bitterly cold winter months here.
