French Open: Bhupathi-Hingis in 2nd round

The Indo-Swiss duo made a straight set lead into the second round of mixed doubles at French Open.

Mahesh Bhupathi and Martina Hingis crossed the first hurdle with a straight sets win in the opening round of mixed doubles at the French Open Grand Slam Tennis in Paris on Saturday.

The Indo-Swiss pair, who had won the mixed doubles crown at the Australian Open earlier this year, defeating Sofia Arvidsson of Sweden and Stephen Huss of Australia 7-5 6-2.

Bhupathi could end up playing his first match against his ward Sania Mirza should she and her Australian partner Paul Hanley upset sixth seeded American duo of Bob Bryan and Martina Navratilova in their first round match.

Leander Paes and his partner Maria Kirilenko of Russia are pitted against Meghann Shaughnessy and Mike Bryan of USA in the first round.
