French Open champion Justine Henin-Hardenne reached the fourth round of the US Open here Saturday with a 6-1, 6-2 victory over Japan's Saori Obata.

The second seed from Belgium advanced to a Monday matchup against Russia's Dinara Safina, the younger sister of 2000 US Open men's champion Marat Safin, for a berth in the quarter-finals.

Henin-Hardenne needed just 56 minutes to oust Obata, firing 18 winners past her rival despite connecting on only 44 percent of her first serves.
