Actually, the citizens too unaware of the list having been released are still approaching the SDM office for their names to be included in the list of BPL category.

The State Government carried out a survey in 2003 for inclusion of names in the list of BPL. This list was not declared, as the Government was not able to set the cut off marks or the deadline.

Now, the cut off marks i.e. 13 has been declared to identify BPL people so the administration invited claims and objections till February 28 and tehsildar and naib tehsildar have been authorised to look into it.

As on today, there is no provision for the new people to apply for inclusion of names in the BPL list. Still a large number of men and women are approaching the dealing clerks in Mhow tehsil and interestingly, the clerks are accepting the applications and giving the receipts also.

When Mhow tehsildar Prabhat Kabra was contacted, he admitted that the employees at the tehsil office were accepting the applications due to lack of knowledge about the matter.

The other reason for taking the application was the insistence of the applicants for accepting it. Thus, these applications were taken only to please the applicants and subside their anger, he averred.
