The snowfall was light along with sleet, but enough to cover the resort town in a fresh mantle of white.

Traffic came to a standstill at several places on the Ring Road after vehicles began to skid on the slippery snow.

The mercury fell again below freezing point due to the snowfall. The town has been experiencing intermittent snowfall since Sunday.

Traffic was moving normally on the Kalka-Shimla highway bringing in holidaymakers in large numbers.

But the Hindustan Tibet highway beyond Shimla was blocked for the seventh day after briefly opening for light vehicles in the day.

The resorts of Kufri, Narkanda and Chail also experienced yet another spell of snowfall. Several parts of the snowbound Shimla, Kinnaur and Sirmaur districts have been without electricity for the past few days.
